About Us
We're building the software we wish our own families had.
We didn't set out to build a company centered around death. We both arrived here the way many people do, through loss.
While Shruti was an engineer at Apple, the company introduced Legacy Contact, a way to designate who can access your account after you die. Around the same time, she lost her uncle. He had never enabled the feature. Grief gave way to court orders, massive amounts of paperwork, and a different process at nearly every institution his family contacted.
Back in New York, Jacq was at Dropbox building systems that helped organizations manage employee accounts after someone left a company. She led the decisions about what should be preserved and what should remain private. Then her family lost their aunt, and it all became very personal. She wondered, could a similar approach help families discover what a loved one left behind?
We spent the next year talking to executors, lawyers, clerks, and advisors. Different stories, different circumstances, but the same pattern kept emerging. Passwords, records, institutions, all of it standing between them and the space to grieve.
At Perpetua, we're building a simpler way to navigate everything that follows a loss, so families can spend less time untangling paperwork and more time holding onto what matters.
How We Work
Three principles guide every decision we make.
Trust is everything.
Your family's information gets the same care we'd demand for our own. We ask for the minimum access, touch only what's necessary, and leave you in control of the rest.
Built with empathy.
Sympathy sees what you're going through. Empathy plans for it. We anticipate what you'll need next, so the burden of figuring it out never lands on you.
Keep it simple.
We remove unnecessary friction wherever we find it, so a complicated process feels a bit more manageable.
